With the upcoming integration of numeracy across Alberta's curricula, English teachers will need to embed numeracy in their classes as well. This session aims to inspire discussion among English teachers who are uncertain about how or are looking for new ideas on how to incorporate numeracy in their classes intentionally. After presenting a brief overview of numeracy and some research on how English teachers in Australia have embedded it, this session focuses mostly on practical examples of how to infuse numeracy in Alberta's ELA8 and ELA9 courses. Examples include ways to include numeracy through informational texts, poetry, narratives, quantitative writing, and the research process and presentations, in addition to some sources of informational articles that stress quantitative content.
